Travel: Hawaii - Oahu - Day 2

Image
The Hawaiian Vacation we didn't know we needed. The good, the bad, & the ugly. We have also included some tips that we discovered along the way. Tip 4: Make sure you enjoy the food! Day 2:                We woke up in our room in the Tapa tower and got ready for the day. We walked over to the Ilikai Hotel and ate breakfast at the  Hawaiian Aroma Caffe . We ordered the guava waffle and the French toast. Both were delicious. The guava waffle was a Belgium waffle with fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries with guava syrup and whipped cream. The French toast was similar except it had regular syrup instead of the guava syrup. The fruit was so fresh and sweet. We enjoyed eating outside near the water fountain. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast and the customer service was great. Rating:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tip 5: Do not take any bags larger than a wallet to Pearl Harbor. They do not allow you to take it in...

Travel: Hawaii - Oahu - Day 1

The Hawaiian Vacation we didn't know we needed. The good, the bad, & the ugly. We have also included some tips that we discovered along the way. Tip 1: Plan ahead to maximize your money. Groupon is your friend!  Make reservations prior to your departure for the attractions you want to visit. They may be sold out before you get there if you don't book ahead of time.                In preparation for the trip, we spoke to people who had already visited Hawaii to get ideas on what we should do while on vacation. One of the greatest suggestions we received was to buy the  Go City Pass  on Groupon for our visit to Oahu. This turned out to be a life AND money saver. This pass is an all-inclusive attraction hopper. You pay for the amount of days you want to use the pass and you can visit any attraction on the list during those days. You can visit multiple places in the sam...

Review: Virgil's Gullah Kitchen & Bar

Image
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Located in the heart of historic College Park, GA,  Virgil's Gullah Kitchen & Bar  is a great place to go if you enjoy a good brunch. The food and drinks were delicious. The service was great. I had the "Sammen Patty Plate" which was Salmon croquettes. Their DJ had us jamming to great music. Pack your patience if you go here because there are roughly 7 tables inside not including the bar seats and they do not take reservations. We went for a triple date and was quoted an hour wait to accommodate our party. After 2 hours of waiting we were frustrated and hungry. The host went and talked to the manager about our long wait. He came right over and apologized profusely. He moved some things around, sat us and provided a round of drinks on the house. Overall we had a great experience and we will be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Travel: Mexico - Playa Del Carmen, Chichen Itza, & Cozumel

Image
Our vacation started with a First Class flight on  Delta Airlines   to Cancun, Mexico.  This was my first time sitting in First Class and I definitely enjoyed the experience. We got to sip on mimosas and just relaxed during the flight. I was so excited and couldn't wait to land in Mexico to start the vacation.      Once we arrived in Cancun, we were taken on a bus ride to Playa Del Carmen where we will stay at our all-inclusive resort for the week.  Hotel Xcaret   is absolutely beautiful. We have gorgeous views and we are right on the beach.      I am looking forward to a relaxing vacation over the next week. I fully intend to enjoy this hammock on our balcony.      Hotel Xcaret allowed us to enjoy a taste of Paradise. We went to the beach and soaked up the sun, enjoyed the resort's infinity pool and ate good food. The service was amazing and servers would come around with shots on tequila on a tra...

Recipe: Honey Garlic Chicken, Potatoes, and Veggies

The last few days have been busy. I have been struggling to get my workouts in and balancing daily life. I have been doing pretty well at making sure I at least reached my daily step goal but I have not been doing well with getting in a good workout the last few days.  Today's post is about a new meal I cooked. I have been wanting to get my cooking back up and going. I use to cook and document my cooking a lot more a few years ago but then I fell off. I have decided to get back to my documentation. Yesterday, I decided to purchase my very first Crockpot. I went to Costco and bought the one they had on sale. I know you're probably thinking, how did I go through life this long and not have a crockpot. I actually enjoy the process of cooking. It has always been therapeutic for me. The process of chopping up your vegetables and cooking your protein and starch has always made me happy. I have also dabbled in a little baking but that included making boxed brownies and cak...

Self Love Mantras

Image
Good morning. This morning, I logged into Instagram and saw my friend Kristian had posted this picture in her story. These self love mantras from The Mantra Co really spoke to me this morning. I am going to start saying these mantras until I begin to believe them. 2020 has been a very rough year for me. I've had some health issues, weight gain, and depression. These mantras are positive and I definitely needed to read them. I am going to work on each one but especially focusing on #5. My weight gain this year along with my health issues have really made me sad with the way I look. It isn't that I am trying to be extremely skinny, it is more so that I want to be at a healthy weight and I know it isn't healthy right now. Which mantra speaks the most to you and why?

Nov 1 Daily Workout

Image
I use my Samsung Active watch and the Samsung Health app to log my workouts. Today's workout consisted of my daily walk, crunches, arm workouts, and for the first time, jumping rope. I recently purchased a jump rope to add an extra cardio workout to my routine. Today was gruesome. I haven't workout the last few days due to traveling and being lazy but I'm back on my grind. I walked my fasted mile at 21:36 since I started consistently walking on Oct 10 so I am very proud of myself. Today's workouts are listed below. 10 minutes of stretching to begin 7 minutes of jumping rope 3 sets of 10 crunches 3 sets of 10 arm curls 3 sets of 10 arm front raises 3 sets of 10 jumping jacks 3 sets of 10 arm extensions 2.0 mile walk 2 minutes of stretching to finish it out
