Travel: Mexico - Playa Del Carmen, Chichen Itza, & Cozumel
Our vacation started with a First Class flight on Delta Airlines to Cancun, Mexico. This was my first time sitting in First Class and I definitely enjoyed the experience. We got to sip on mimosas and just relaxed during the flight. I was so excited and couldn't wait to land in Mexico to start the vacation.
Once we arrived in Cancun, we were taken on a bus ride to Playa Del Carmen where we will stay at our all-inclusive resort for the week. Hotel Xcaret is absolutely beautiful. We have gorgeous views and we are right on the beach.
I am looking forward to a relaxing vacation over the next week. I fully intend to enjoy this hammock on our balcony.
Hotel Xcaret allowed us to enjoy a taste of Paradise. We went to the beach and soaked up the sun, enjoyed the resort's infinity pool and ate good food. The service was amazing and servers would come around with shots on tequila on a tray. The resort restaurants were delicious. We went to a few of them more than once but as a whole tried to go to as many different ones as we could. They also offered kayaking which was a fun experience for both of us. There was just so much to do it kept us entertained for several days.
The all-inclusive resort offers many activities that are included in your stay. We decided to visit to Xplor which is their adventure park. At this park, we were able to zipline and ride on 4-wheelers at night. We went to Xenses another day where we had to use our 5 senses during the different activities to complete the attractions.
Sense is the ability to perceive internal and external stimuli using specific organs. Each sense is formed by a group of specialized cells that detect "feelings" through receptors. Generally, it is considered that humans have five senses: hearing, sight, smell, touch and taste.
It was refreshing to be able sit back and try to see the world using our different senses.
We also spent some time outside of the resort with a visit to the Chichen Itza & Mayan Ruins. At the Chichen Itza, we spent the day touring the archeological grounds and it was absolutely amazing. It is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. It was so cool to hear about the history of the grounds.
Chichen Itza is divided in Old Chichen and Chichen Itza where you can find 6 Mayan Ruins in the Old Chichen section and about 20 Mayan Ruins in the New Chichen or Chichen Itza, making it a total of 26 Mayan Ruins to see on the Mayan Site.
The main Mayan Ruin is the Chichen Itza Pyramid or El Castillo, but there are other equaly important as El Caracol or Observatory, The Temple of The Warriors and the Mayan Ball Game.
We visited Cozumel for a day which allowed us to go shopping and snorkeling. We were able to roam the city and enjoy it's beauty. We saw a sign that showed us the direction of several countries.
We were able to visit a 500 year old church on the heart of the city. It is the main Catholic Church in Cozumel. It
Overall, we had an amazing trip. I am so glad we were able to add a new destination to our travel blog. The adventures we experienced will last us a lifetime.
