Recipe: Honey Garlic Chicken, Potatoes, and Veggies

The last few days have been busy. I have been struggling to get my workouts in and balancing daily life. I have been doing pretty well at making sure I at least reached my daily step goal but I have not been doing well with getting in a good workout the last few days.  Today's post is about a new meal I cooked. I have been wanting to get my cooking back up and going. I use to cook and document my cooking a lot more a few years ago but then I fell off. I have decided to get back to my documentation. Yesterday, I decided to purchase my very first Crockpot. I went to Costco and bought the one they had on sale. I know you're probably thinking, how did I go through life this long and not have a crockpot. I actually enjoy the process of cooking. It has always been therapeutic for me. The process of chopping up your vegetables and cooking your protein and starch has always made me happy. I have also dabbled in a little baking but that included making boxed brownies and cak...

Self Love Mantras

Image
Good morning. This morning, I logged into Instagram and saw my friend Kristian had posted this picture in her story. These self love mantras from The Mantra Co really spoke to me this morning. I am going to start saying these mantras until I begin to believe them. 2020 has been a very rough year for me. I've had some health issues, weight gain, and depression. These mantras are positive and I definitely needed to read them. I am going to work on each one but especially focusing on #5. My weight gain this year along with my health issues have really made me sad with the way I look. It isn't that I am trying to be extremely skinny, it is more so that I want to be at a healthy weight and I know it isn't healthy right now. Which mantra speaks the most to you and why?

Nov 1 Daily Workout

Image
I use my Samsung Active watch and the Samsung Health app to log my workouts. Today's workout consisted of my daily walk, crunches, arm workouts, and for the first time, jumping rope. I recently purchased a jump rope to add an extra cardio workout to my routine. Today was gruesome. I haven't workout the last few days due to traveling and being lazy but I'm back on my grind. I walked my fasted mile at 21:36 since I started consistently walking on Oct 10 so I am very proud of myself. Today's workouts are listed below. 10 minutes of stretching to begin 7 minutes of jumping rope 3 sets of 10 crunches 3 sets of 10 arm curls 3 sets of 10 arm front raises 3 sets of 10 jumping jacks 3 sets of 10 arm extensions 2.0 mile walk 2 minutes of stretching to finish it out

Welcome to my Blog

Hi, I'm Krayola. I enjoy cooking, bowling, traveling, and recently, working out. I was a pescatarian for 20+ years but recently started incorporating chicken into my diet. During this Corona virus pandemic, I gained a lot of weight and became more unhealthy than I already had been but I knew I wanted to change. On October 10, 2020 , I decided to start my workout journey. I woke up that day and realized I was unhappy with my weight and knew that I was not living a healthy lifestyle. I have previously started working out periodically over the years but never stuck with it. Somehow, on October 10, I decided I was finally going to stick with my goal.  I decided to start documenting my journey on Instagram @krayolas_kronicles to keep me motivated and to be accountable in my workouts. Today, I decided to start this blog so I can really talk about my experience and keep a journal of my feelings and my journey. I will include the workouts that I do, my cooking, my travels, and other aspect...
